I got a call out of the Wilson area of Oxnard on a Tuesday morning. A woman who works at a dog boarding facility had a problem with her 2013 Porsche 911. Another locksmith had already been out and made her a replacement smart key. It worked once.

I completed a proper programming sequence using the right diagnostic equipment in the correct mode for this platform, verified the key ID was registered, and ran three cold start cycles back to back. Then I walked every button on the fob: lock, unlock, and the remaining three. All of it clean.
She watched the whole thing from about two feet away, which I prefer. No mystery.
The dealer quote she'd already gotten for a full replacement and programming was the kind of number that makes people's faces change. She paid a fraction of that. More importantly, she left with a key the car actually trusts.
