2013 Porsche 911 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in Del Sol Park in Oxnard, a 911 owner called me mid-morning sounding frustrated but calm. She'd had a replacement smart key made by another locksmith a few days before. It started the car the first time, she drove home, and the next morning the push-to-start was dead. Fob did nothing. Yellow pulse on the start button, "No Key Detected" on the TFT, and that was it.

She met me in her driveway. The fob looked right, car-shaped five-button KR55WK50138, correct shell, correct blade. But when I connected my VVDI2 in VAG mode and pulled the KESSY module data, the problem was obvious. The previous tech had written a chip profile that passed initial handshake but failed the secondary rolling crypto validation on restart. Porsche's immobilizer does a two-stage check. Pass once, fail twice, and you're locked out.
I matched a new Hitag Pro transponder to her specific KESSY configuration, wrote the correct crypto seed, and programmed it through the OBD port. Three cold starts, all clean. Tested lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and the frunk release button. Then I walked both doors checking passive entry range.
She stood there watching the dash the whole third start like she expected it to ghost on her again. It didn't.
The difference between a key that works once and one that works every time is chip accuracy and a complete programming sequence. No shortcuts on these cars.
