A Euro performance shop out near Tierra Rejada Open Space in Moorpark called me about a 2008 911 that was completely dead to any key. Another locksmith had attempted an all-keys-lost job, and something went wrong during the KESSY module bench read. Power got interrupted mid-process. The module locked up. No fob would register, no start, nothing.
The shop had already spent two days on hold with the dealer. Tow it in, wait a week, maybe longer. They called me before it came to that.
I pulled the KESSY unit from behind the dash and set up my ACDP on the bench. Soldered directly to the EEPROM test points on the board to pull the security data the previous tech had corrupted. Once I had a clean read, I generated a new key file, wrote it to a fresh KR55WK45022 proximity fob, reinstalled the module, and cleared every fault code off the cluster.
The part people skip: after the module goes back in, you walk the whole car. Lock, unlock, trunk release, proximity detection at every door handle, push-button start from cold. I ran through all of it with the shop tech watching.
Total time was about two and a half hours, which is longer than a normal key job. But the alternative was shipping the module out or a dealer tow with a bill that would have been a lot more. I carry the bench tools specifically for when someone else's first attempt hits a wall.
