A legitimate Porsche locksmith knows before arrival whether your specific year and model requires OBD access, what tools that takes, and whether the job is feasible on site. If they cannot answer those questions on the phone, that is your answer.

Start by trying the key in the door lock cylinder, not the ignition. If the blade cuts fine and operates the door manually, the blade geometry is good. If the dash warning only appears at the ignition, the lock cylinder is the first place I would look.
