And if something still goes sideways later, that's on us.

The car starts because the transponder side of the key is still communicating, but the remote side of the fob is failing or the immobilizer system is logging a registration mismatch. Sometimes it's a contact issue inside the housing from a drop or from the pivot area getting stressed over time.

Start with a fresh battery and see if the warning clears. If it comes back, or if the remote range has dropped significantly, the housing or the internal board likely needs attention. Don't ignore a persistent key warning on this platform. The immobilizer on these cars is not forgiving if something fully fails while you're parked somewhere inconvenient.
