Saturday afternoon near Lemonwood Park in Oxnard, a 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S sitting at the edge of the polo grounds. The owner had one working key left, and it was acting up. Short range, Keyless-Go not waking up when he grabbed the door handle, and the dash flashing "No key detected" every few starts.
He told me he had already called the Porsche dealer. They quoted him a wait of two to four weeks for a replacement fob to arrive from Germany, plus a second trip back to program it. He just stared at the ground when he said that.
I decoded the lock cylinder, cut the emergency blade for the new KR55WK50138 fob, and connected through OBD to read the KESSY module. Used my VVDI2 with the Porsche adapter to pull the security data and write the transponder to a blank smart key. The 991.1 KESSY talks Hitag Pro, so the key file has to match exactly or the immobilizer will not release.
Once the new fob was registered, I did what I always do. Walked the full parking area pressing lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and Keyless-Go from 30 feet out. Walked back, tested door handle wake-up on both sides. Then three clean push-button starts in a row, waiting a full ten seconds between each.
He watched the whole thing from a bench. When I handed him both working keys, he just nodded and said the testing was the part he did not expect. Took about an hour. The dealer would have taken weeks.
