2011 Porsche 911 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was in the Blackstock area of Oxnard on a Thursday morning when I got a text with a VIN already in it. That almost never happens.
The person who texted me was an office manager at a medical practice nearby. Her boss drove a 2011 Porsche 911 and wanted a spare cut and programmed before a weekend trip. The boss had one working key, which was the important detail. She just wanted a backup so the trip didn't turn into a disaster if something went sideways.
Because the VIN was already in my phone before I left my previous job, I cross-referenced the smart key configuration and had the correct fob blank prepped on the drive over. By the time I parked in front of the office, I wasn't guessing at anything.
I pulled out my diagnostic equipment, connected through the OBD port, and with the working key present the system recognized the existing fob and let me add the new one alongside it without any kind of module reset. Wrote the key data, confirmed the new fob paired correctly, then walked every function. Lock. Unlock. The other three buttons. Passive door approach. Emergency insert blade in the door cylinder. All good.
She texted me a thumbs up about twenty minutes after I drove away. The boss had a tested spare in hand before noon.
She mentioned the dealer had given them a timeframe of several days and a price that made her look for other options. I didn't ask what the number was. Didn't need to.
