2007 Toyota Yaris MECHANICAL-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy at the Thousand Oaks Auto Mall area in Thousand Oaks. His 2007 Yaris had one key left, and the plastic head was split down the middle, held together with electrical tape.

He said he had been nursing it for months. Every morning he would line up the two halves, slide it into the ignition slowly, and pray. That morning the tape gave out in the parking lot and the key split in his hand. The blade went into the cylinder fine, but the transponder half of the head stayed in his palm. Engine cranked, would not fire. Classic immobilizer rejection.

I pulled the broken blade out with extraction tools, no damage to the cylinder. Then I checked the 4D-67 chip from the cracked head. Still intact. I cut a new TOY43 blade on my Condor XC-Mini Plus, pressed the original chip into a fresh key shell, and tested. Ignition turned, immobilizer accepted, engine fired right up.

Then I cut and programmed a full spare using my VVDI Mini Key Tool to write a new 4D-67 chip and register it through the OBD-II port. Two working keys, both tested three times each, cold start and restart.

He held the old taped-up key head for a second, looked at it, and dropped it in the trash can next to his car without a word. That was the whole goodbye.
