2012 Toyota Yaris Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call around 2am from a guy over near Ventura River Trail. His 2012 Yaris was sitting in the driveway and his only key had snapped at the blade, right where the plastic meets the metal. The transponder head was in his hand and the blade was stuck in the ignition cylinder.
He had already looked up dealer hours. Earliest appointment was four days out, and they wanted him to tow it in since the blade was jammed.
I told him to hang tight. Pulled the broken blade out of the cylinder with extraction tools, took maybe ten minutes. Then I set up on the hood. The 2012 Yaris runs Toyota's 4D-67 transponder on the 89070-21050 remote head key. I cut a new TOY43 blade by code, cloned the 4D-67 chip from his broken key head, and assembled the new MOZB41TG shell with a fresh CR2016 for the remote buttons.
Then I programmed the remote function through OBD using the T-Code. Lock, unlock, panic, all three buttons confirmed. Tested the transponder start twice cold.
The part that stuck with me: he kept holding the old broken key like he wasn't ready to let go of it. I told him it was dead weight now. He dropped it in a drawer and went back to bed.
Whole thing was done on site for a fraction of what the dealer quoted, and he never left home.
