2015 Toyota Yaris Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was at a sushi spot in River Park when her bag got stolen off the chair beside her. Keys, wallet, phone, gone. She borrowed a server's phone, called the police, then her husband, then me.
Her 2015 Yaris was sitting in the lot with no working key at all. Her husband had already called the dealer. Three to five business days, tow it in, rekey recommended. The estimate they gave him was enough to make him look for another option fast.
All-keys-lost is a different job than adding a spare, and I tell every customer that upfront. When one key still works, adding a second is relatively quick because the car already trusts a key and just learns another. When every key is gone, I have to wipe the key memory entirely so the stolen key can never start the car again, then register fresh keys from scratch. It takes longer and it costs more, and it should, because you're getting a clean slate.
I got there that evening, worked through the immobilizer reset with my diagnostic equipment, cleared the old key data, and cut and programmed two replacement keys on site. Both fobs working, blade cuts verified, before her police report was even processed.
She drove home that night. The stolen key can still slide into the door lock, but the car will not run on it. That's the first thing I tell people in her situation. The moment the key memory gets wiped, the old key is dead to the car. She knew that before I left.
The dealer option would have meant a tow, a week without a car, and a bill well above what I charged. Getting a spare made before something like this happens is always the better path. But when the worst already happened, at least it got handled the same night.
