I got a call from a guy over on The Avenue in Ventura on a weekday afternoon. He was parked near one of the shops, had set his key on the roof while loading bags into the back seat, and drove off. Classic. He realized it was gone about six blocks later, went back, nothing there. His only key was somewhere on Ventura Avenue or under someone's tire.

I started on the door lock. Decoded the cylinder mechanically, pulled the cut depths, and generated a blade from that. On the 2011 Yaris the remote head key has the blade folded into the fob body, so once I had the cut I built the full unit, not just a standalone blade. Connected through the OBD port, ran the immobilizer reset to clear the lost key out of memory, and registered the new fob. Then the part that actually tells you if the job is done right: tested the lock button, the unlock button, the blade in the ignition, and confirmed the car started and ran.
He was back inside his car before the meter expired.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him something like three times what he paid me, plus they needed the car towed in because they said they couldn't do all-keys-lost in the field. That part I hear a lot.
