1999 Chevrolet Venture
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

1999 Chevrolet Venture Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in La Conchita, right along the coast there, who had already paid another locksmith to replace his key on a 1999 Venture. The key turned, the engine fired, and then it died. Every time.

He'd been told the body control module was shot. The other locksmith packed up and left him with a car that still didn't run and a bill he'd already paid.

I drove out to him. The module was fine. I verified the blade cut was correct using my decoder, then connected through the OBD port with my programmer. When I pulled up the key data, the previous learn was sitting there half-written, like someone had started the process and bailed before the timer finished. Classic rushed job.

I cleared the bad data, ran a clean all-keys-lost procedure with the full timed relearn, and let every cycle run to completion without cutting it short. When the third cycle finished and the system confirmed the key was permanently written, I had him start it. Ran right. No stall.

He'd already paid once for work that didn't hold. He paid me a fraction of what the dealer wanted, and this time the job was actually done.
