Near Ventura Music Hall, a bass fisherman lost his only key to a 2007 Dodge Charger somewhere between a boat ramp dock and the dirt parking lot. Checked the tackle box, checked the boat, checked every pocket twice. Nothing.
He figured the car was stuck until Monday when he could get a tow to the dealer. I told him I could be out that afternoon.
I used my Y159 Lishi to pick the door and decode every wafer position for the cut depths. The 2007 Charger uses the Y159 high-security keyway, eight wafer positions, and the Lishi reads each one as you pick through it. No guessing.
Then I connected through the OBD-II port and ran the Sentry Key all-keys-lost procedure on the WIN module. That wipes any previously registered transponder codes from the EEPROM and writes the new PCF7941 chip as primary. The remote head key, FCC ID OHT692427AA, part number 56040649AC, was cut to the decoded depths, programmed, and tested right there in the dirt lot.
I cut a spare while I was at it so he wouldn't be one lost key away from this situation again.
His Charger started at the boat ramp. The whole job, lock decode to engine running, took about 45 minutes. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a weekday appointment, and a bill that makes this look like pocket change.
He was back on the water the next morning.
