A night-shift CNA called me from a church parking lot near Wildwood Mesa Trail in Thousand Oaks, close to 10 pm. Her only key to her 2020 Charger was gone. No spare, no idea where it went. She was already looking up tow trucks when she found my number.
She didn't have her registration handy and wasn't sure what a VIN looked like. I stayed on the phone with her. Told her to look at the base of the windshield, driver's side. She found it. Then I had her pull up her insurance app, and the registration was right there.
With the VIN I already knew her setup before I left: M3M-40821302 fob, AES 128-bit immobilizer, SGW bypass needed. I prepped the blank, the correct FOBIK board, and a fresh CR2032 so I wasn't sorting parts under a parking lot light.
On site, I pulled the SGW access panel, ran the bypass, and used my diagnostic tool through the OBD port to wipe the lost fob and register the new one to her WIN module. Cut the high-security emergency blade on the van. Whole job, about 35 minutes.
She sat in the driver's seat, hit start, and just watched the tach sweep like she expected it to argue with her. It didn't.
She drove home. The dealer was closed anyway, and they would have needed a tow on top of everything else.
