2014 Infiniti Q50 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He'd been in the air since early morning, cross-country, and by the time he landed and walked out to the long-term lot in Thousand Oaks, his Q50 just sat there. No response to the fob, no door unlock, nothing.
He'd never used the mechanical emergency blade in the fob. Didn't even know it was there. He's a biotech sales rep with a territory meeting he couldn't move, and the dealer told him their earliest availability was Friday. It was Tuesday. A tow was going to cost him the better part of half a work day and money he didn't want to spend.
He found EZ Car Keyz and called to ask if I'd come to a parking lot.
I got there in under an hour. Used the hidden blade to get him in the door, then connected to the OBD port to read the key status. His fob was still enrolled in the system, which was the good news. The dead CR2032 had dropped the signal and left a communication fault in the immobilizer that a battery swap alone wouldn't clear. Swapped the battery, cleared the fault, walked every button and the push-to-start. Everything came back.
He made his meeting. What he paid me was a fraction of what the dealer would have quoted him, and that's before adding a tow and a three-day wait.
