2018 Infiniti Q50
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2018 Infiniti Q50 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call out of Westlake Village on a Monday night, close to 9:30. The woman on the phone was calm but clearly done with her day.

She had finished a late session at an outpatient clinic off Thousand Oaks Boulevard, walked out to the employee lot, and the Q50 just sat there. Push-button start gave her nothing. The fob had stopped communicating, not a weak battery issue, a full handshake failure.

She had already called the dealer. Earliest appointment was Thursday. Infiniti roadside would tow it, but the key still had to wait for the dealer to open, order the fob, and get her on the schedule. That was not going to work.

I was in the lot before 10pm. Popped the fob to confirm the CR2032 was good and the contacts were clean. They were. This was a programming issue, not a battery issue. I connected through the OBD port, ran the smart key learning sequence for the Q50, and registered the replacement fob to her vehicle. Five buttons, tested every one. Door lock, unlock, and the remaining functions all responding. Start confirmed.

She drove out of that lot about 35 minutes after I arrived. She paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted for Thursday. Her car did not sit in a dark lot for three nights. That part almost never comes up in conversation, but it is always what people are actually relieved about.
