Sunday morning in Thousand Oaks, over in the Casa Conejo neighborhood. A woman came out of a yoga studio after teaching her first class and her 2016 Q50 was completely dead to the fob. No button response, no proximity unlock on the door handles, no push-button start. Just the little red security light blinking on the dash when she looked through the glass.

I got to the lot in about 40 minutes. Popped her fob open on the hood and the CR2032 was toast, totally flat. But swapping in a fresh cell only got half the system back. Doors locked and unlocked, but the dash still threw "Key ID Incorrect" when she hit the start button. The Hitag AES transponder profile had dropped out of sync with her BCM.
That's where the diagnostic tool earns its keep. I connected through the OBD port under the dash, pulled up the NATS6 module, cleared the corrupted key data, and re-registered her KR5S180144014 fob from scratch. Five-button unit: lock, unlock, trunk, remote start, panic. Tested every function, then walked to the far end of the lot and confirmed range.
She drove home, came back, and made her second class with time to spare. The whole thing took less than an hour on site, for a fraction of what the dealer would have quoted on Monday.
