Out in South Winds, a stay-at-home dad waved me down from his duplex driveway. His CX-5 fob had taken a concrete hit and the housing had cracked clean across the back. Then I walked every function: lock, unlock, the third button, touch unlock on both door handles, and verified the start button picked up the fob without hesitation. Everything worked exactly as it should.
He didn't need a new smart key. He needed someone to look at it instead of just replacing it. That's a different kind of job, and it saved him a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted.
