Got a call from a guy in the Gonzales Road commercial area in Oxnard. He runs a small shipping office over there, and his 2018 CX-5 Grand Touring had been a one-key car since he bought it used. He said he'd been meaning to get a spare for over a year but kept putting it off.

Cut the emergency insert key on the spot, got inside, connected through the OBD port to the Mazda module, and ran the smart key registration. The WAZSKE13D01 fob picked right up. Tested all four buttons, tested proximity unlock on both front doors, tested push-button start in every gear position.
He stood there watching the whole time, holding his coffee, not saying much. When the engine turned over he just nodded and said, "That would have been my whole afternoon at the dealer."
It was about 35 minutes from the Lishi pick to handing him two working smart keys.
