2015 Mazda CX-5
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2015 Mazda CX-5 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A chiropractor working near Silver Strand called me on his lunch break. He'd already called the Mazda dealer that morning about a spare key for his 2015 CX-5.

They gave him a breakdown: the fob itself, a cutting charge, programming labor, and a shop fee on top. He'd have to leave the car for most of the afternoon. He found EZ Car Keyz, looked at the site, and called to ask if my quote really covered everything or if there were line items waiting at the end.

I told him one price covers the fob, the cut, the programming, and the drive to him. He asked when I could be there.

I was in his parking lot before his next patient was off the table. Pulled the VIN, confirmed the key specs, got the fob and blade ready. On the 2015 CX-5, the system runs a mandatory security wait during new key registration. It's built into how Mazda's immobilizer handles enrollment. That timer runs whether you're a dealer or an independent, no way around it. I told him that upfront so he wasn't standing there wondering why I was just watching a progress bar.

While it counted down, he went back inside. By the time he came out to check on me, the new key was registered, the blade was cut, and I was walking the locks and testing every button. Everything worked.

He got a working spare, done on site, during a lunch break, for way less than the dealer wanted in four separate line items.
