She was standing outside a Costco in Simi Valley, July, with a cart full of frozen food and a fob that had decided to stop talking to her car.
The WRX was locked. The groceries were already starting their slow defeat against the heat. She pressed the fob button a few more times, the way everyone does when they already know it isn't working. Then she called me.

Swapped the CR2032, confirmed the fob was pairing correctly with the vehicle, walked every button, tested the handle touch unlock on both front doors, and made sure push-button start was responding the way it should.
She asked if I needed to plug into anything. I told her for a battery swap and verification, no. She seemed surprised the fix was that contained. The dealer had told her next-day, no guarantees on timeline.
Groceries made it home fine. The fob has been working since.
