A guy in the Mountain Meadows neighborhood in Moorpark called me on his lunch break. He was parked at the REI lot, eating in his car, and his only smart key for his 2005 BMW 7 Series had been acting up for weeks. Four-button smart key: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Tested every function, including Comfort Access pickup at the driver door handle and push-button start.
He was still finishing his sandwich when I handed him the new key. The CAS2 runs the same handshake whether it happens in a BMW service bay or next to a rack of hiking poles. His car doesn't know the difference.
