2009 BMW 7 Series Emergency Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A chiropractor over near Tierra Rejada Golf Club in Moorpark called me between patients. Her 2009 750Li smart fob had quit responding. Doors wouldn't unlock with the button, Comfort Access was dead, and she had back-to-back appointments until five. The dealer told her to tow it in and they could look at it Thursday, maybe Friday.
I got to her office lot while she was with a patient.
The F01 uses the CAS4 module, which talks to the key through a 315 MHz remote frequency and Hitag2 transponder handshake. Her fob shell was fine, battery contacts clean, VL2020 rechargeable coin cell still holding voltage. The issue was the fob had lost its sync with the CAS4 after a low-battery event. That happens on these. The module stops recognizing the remote functions but the transponder blade start still works, which is exactly what she described: she could turn the car on by inserting the emergency key into the slot, but the buttons did nothing.
I connected through OBD, read the CAS4 ISN, and re-registered her existing fob. Then I cut a fresh HU92R emergency blade as a spare since hers was showing wear on the sidebar. Tested Comfort Access at all four doors and the trunk, confirmed remote lock and unlock range from about 30 feet, and verified push-button start with the fob in her purse.
She walked out after her last patient, hit the handle, door opened. Car never left the parking spot. She never canceled a single appointment.
