2004 Buick Regal Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Guy near Promenade Park in Ventura flagged me down through a call on a Sunday evening. His 2004 Buick Regal wouldn't respond to the remote at all. Lock button, nothing. Unlock, nothing. Trunk, dead. He'd been opening the doors with the key blade for a week and finally got tired of it.
He had the original remote in his hand, L2C0007T, three buttons, looking pretty beat up. I popped the back off and the CR2032 inside was corroded on one side. Not just dead, but leaking just enough to leave a film on the contact plate. Cleaned the terminals, dropped in a fresh CR2032, and the fob woke right up.
Then I tested range. Lock and unlock from about 30 feet, trunk pop from behind the car. All three buttons confirmed working.
But while I was there he mentioned the car had been doing a thing where the SECURITY light would flash and it'd crank but not start. Classic Passlock II. I walked him through the 10-minute relearn, where you leave the key in ON until the SECURITY light stops flashing, cycle it off, repeat three times. It's tedious but it resets the Body Control Module's stored resistance value.
He thought both problems were connected. They weren't. Dead CR2032 killed the remote. Passlock II glitch was the ignition cylinder sensor acting up separately. Two different systems, one visit.
