A daycare provider near Ventura River Trail called me about her 2008 Chrysler 300. Her FOBIK shell was cracked down the seam, the rubber button pad had worn through on the lock and unlock side, and she was holding the whole thing together with a hair tie. The dealer told her she needed a full replacement, cut and programmed from scratch.
What they did not mention is that the IYZ-C01C circuit board inside was perfectly fine. The HITAG2 chip was still communicating with her WIN module every time she started the car. She just needed a new shell.
I went out to her duplex that evening. Her 300 uses the Y160 keyway, so I brought my Y160 Lishi to decode the lock and verify the blade cuts. I swapped her working electronics from the cracked housing into a fresh FOBIK shell, transferred the button pad, and cut a new Y160 blade to match. Then I walked every button: lock, unlock, trunk, remote start, panic. All five responding clean.
She stood on the porch watching me work on her hood and kept glancing at the old cracked shell like she could not believe that was all it took.
Her cracked FOBIK had been her only key, so I made her a spare while I was there. Two working FOBIKs for a fraction of what the dealer quoted her for one.
