A retired school bus driver living near Hillcrest Center for the Arts in Thousand Oaks called about his 2017 Chrysler 300. He needed a spare smart key. His neighbor had used me on a Dodge and passed my number along.

The fob is the M3N-40821302 with a Hitag AES crypto chip inside. I ran the security PIN access through the OBD port, which on these pre-gateway 300s goes through without the extra Secure Gateway authentication step that the 2018+ cars need.
Cut the emergency key insert, programmed the proximity functions, and tested every button: lock, unlock, trunk, remote start, panic. Then I walked the perimeter, checking passive entry on all four door handles and the trunk.
He stood there watching and said the whole thing took about as long as a coffee break. He wasn't wrong. Thirty minutes, start to finish, right in his driveway.
