A guy along the Thousand Oaks Boulevard corridor had been wrestling with his 2018 Chrysler 300 ignition for a few weeks. The FOBIK would go in, but it would stick at the ACC position. He'd push harder, wiggle it, wait. Some mornings it caught on the first try. Other mornings he sat there for five minutes working the key back and forth before the engine would turn over.

I pulled the FOBIK out and checked the WIN. The internal wafer contacts had worn down from years of slight misalignment, a common issue on the second-gen 300's column assembly. The module itself was still alive. I cleaned and adjusted the contacts inside the WIN, decoded the existing lock, and cut a fresh FOBIK blank that seated properly against the repaired contact surfaces. His proximity remote, the M3N-40821302, paired back up with no drama.
I had him cycle the ignition a dozen times while I watched. Smooth every time. He kept looking at the steering column like he expected it to fight back.
