An overnight shift nurse near the Stagecoach Inn Museum area in Thousand Oaks called me around 11pm. Her only smart key for her 2013 Chrysler 300 had stopped working completely. Then the walkthrough: passive entry on both front doors, trunk release, remote start hold, push-button ignition cycle, and a second ignition cycle to make sure the EVIC stayed clean. No "Key Fob Not Detected," no warning chimes.
She just stood there watching the dash like she was waiting for something to go wrong again. Nothing did.
The whole thing took about 35 minutes. She was back to planning tomorrow's shift instead of planning around a missing car. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a wait, and a bill that looked nothing like mine.
