2000 GMC Savana
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to my location in River Park or Wagon Wheel?

Call us and we give you a straight arrival window based on where we are at that moment. Being mobile and already running routes around Ventura means we can usually get to you well ahead of any dealer timeline. The dealer alternative for a Savana this age typically means scheduling days out and potentially arranging your own transport to get there.

Q: Can I get a key made today?

Almost always yes. The 2000 Savana takes a standard metal key blank that I carry in the service vehicle. As long as the schedule lines up when you call, I can come to you in River Park or Wagon Wheel, cut the key on site, and have it tested in your locks the same day. No parts to order, no waiting on a dealer tech to have an opening.

Q: I lost my only key and there is no spare. Can a key still be made without one?

Yes, and it is a common situation with vans this age. When there is no working key to copy from, I decode the lock directly. The door lock or the ignition cylinder gives up the cut information, and I cut the replacement to match. No original key needed, no VIN-to-code lookup service required, though that route exists as a backup if the lock is damaged. All-keys-lost on a 2000 Savana is a straightforward field job.

Q: My key turns hard and feels like it is going to snap. Should I just get a duplicate cut from it while it still works?

Do it now, not later. A worn key on a van this age can be deceiving. It still turns, so it feels like you have time. But a worn key also cuts a slightly off duplicate if I copy it directly, meaning the duplicate inherits the same wear pattern and may give you trouble down the road.

2000 GMC Savana Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy over in River Park called me on a Tuesday. He runs a small delivery operation out of Ventura and his 2000 GMC Savana was sitting in his driveway with no key. Not lost, exactly. He found it in pieces in the bottom of a bag, bent at the bow from getting stepped on. Blade was still intact but the key itself was done.

He figured the dealer would be his only shot. Called them first. They told him they would need to verify ownership, possibly order a blank, and get him on the schedule. He called me right after that.

I pulled up to his place off Wagon Wheel with blanks and cutting equipment in the van. Decoded the lock cylinder in a few minutes, cut a replacement, and tested it in the ignition and both door locks. Fit clean, turned smooth.

He held it up, looked at it like he was checking whether it was real, and said it looked exactly like the original. That is the job on a van this age. No programming window, no relearn timer, no scan tool needed. Just a correctly cut key and you are done.

He was back to loading the van before I had even made it back to my truck.

GMC Savana Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

How long does a 2000 GMC Savana key replacement take?▼

On a van this age with a mechanical key setup, it is genuinely one of the faster jobs out there. Once I am at your vehicle, decoding the lock and cutting a replacement usually runs 15 to 20 minutes. If you already have a working key I can duplicate from, it is even quicker. No programming timer, no ignition-cycle relearn sequence. Cut, test in the door, test in the ignition, done.
