2021 GMC Savana
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2021 GMC Savana Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in Downtown Ojai who had been putting this job off for about three weeks. His 2021 GMC Savana key housing had cracked along the seam and was being held together by habit at that point. He could feel the shell flexing every time he grabbed it. He knew it was coming apart. He just had no time.

He drives the van for work and has two kids in school. He called a dealer and they told him to bring the vehicle in and leave it for a few hours. That was a dead end before it started. One vehicle, two kids, active pickup schedule. Leaving the van anywhere during the week was not happening.

He asked if I could come to him. I said yes.

I met him in the school pickup area near Downtown Ojai at 3:15 in the afternoon while he waited in line. I decoded the lock, cut a fresh key blade to his vehicle, transferred the electronics from his splitting housing into a new shell, and ran the transponder programming through the OBD port. By the time the school doors opened and the kids came walking out, the key was done, tested on the ignition, tested on the locks. He dropped it in his pocket like nothing happened.

The dealer wanted most of a weekday and a number that made him pause. He paid a fraction of that. The kids climbed in and asked what was for dinner. Neither of them knew anything had changed.
