Got a call from a woman stuck near the Santa Barbara Museum of Art with a 2004 GMC Savana cargo van. She'd flown in on a red-eye, grabbed a ride to where she'd parked the van, and the remote wouldn't do anything. Doors locked, battery in the fob completely dead, and she couldn't reach the manual lock because her particular van had the keyed entry only on the driver door and the lock was stiff from sitting.

I got there in under an hour. Slim-jimmed the door, which on these full-size vans is a simple job since the linkage is exposed. Once inside, I checked the ignition. Her key turned fine, engine started on the first crank. The Passlock II module had no issues at all. The whole problem was a dead remote battery and a lock cylinder that needed a shot of dry lubricant so the mechanical key would actually turn the door.
Swapped the remote battery, lubed the door lock, tested the second fob she had in her bag. Both working.
She sat in the driver seat for a second, just kind of processing how small the fix was. Drove home before lunch. The dealer wait and the tow truck never happened.
