2011 GMC Savana
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2011 GMC Savana Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A retired firefighter out in Carpinteria, near Rincon Point, picked up a used 2011 GMC Savana from a credit union auto sale. Solid work van, fair price, one catch: it came with a single key. The credit union told him that was his problem to sort out.

He called the GMC dealer first. The number they quoted stopped him cold. He'd been buying trucks and vans for thirty years and still wasn't ready for what a single transponder key costs at the dealer counter. A friend pointed him toward EZ Car Keyz, and he called me the same afternoon.

I met him in the parking lot before he even drove the van home. He had the one original key with him, which made the whole job cleaner. I matched the correct blank for the Savana, cut the blade on my machine, and programmed the transponder so the van's security system would accept it the same way it accepts the original. No tow, no service bay, no waiting for a tech to get around to it.

He ended up with two fully working keys, standing right there in the lot. The part that stuck with him, I think, was that it cost him a fraction of what the dealer quoted, and he didn't have to leave the van anywhere. He just drove home with a spare in his pocket.

The dealer comparison came up once, almost as an afterthought on his end. I just told him the job was the same either way. He got it done for way less.
