Sunday morning in the Mira Monte area. Church parking lot. A youth pastor stood next to his 2022 GMC Savana, pressing buttons on a dead fob while kids waited for their ride to lunch.
The CR2032 had died, but that wasn't the whole problem. When I tested with my VVDI tool, the transponder chip was throwing error code B3935 - corrupted key data. Just a battery swap wouldn't bring this one back.

The interesting part was his reaction to the remote start working. He'd owned the van two years and never knew that fourth button did anything. Previous owner must have had RPO code AP3 dealer-activated but never mentioned it. Now he had heat running while loading equipment on cold mornings.
Twenty-eight minutes total, including showing him how far the remote start reached from inside the church. He made the youth lunch with time to spare. The dealer quote he'd gotten months earlier for a spare was three times what I charged, plus they wanted the van for half a day.
