A dog groomer working out of her condo near Carpinteria State Beach had a 2012 GMC Savana cargo van with a cracked key shell. The plastic was split right along the head and the B111 blade was wobbling loose every time she turned the ignition. She called the dealer and they quoted her a full replacement key, cut and programmed.
What they did not mention is that the PK3+ transponder chip inside her key head was perfectly fine. The electronics were not broken. The housing was.
I met her in the driveway with replacement shells and my Lishi B111 decoder. Decoded her door lock cylinder for an exact cut match, transferred the working PK3+ chip into a fresh shell, and cut a new blade from the decode. Snapped it together, same fit as factory.
Then the part that matters: inserted the key, let the BCM handshake with the transponder, and the van fired right up. No security light, no crank-and-die, no relearn needed. The chip was already registered to her BCM, so moving it into a new shell changed nothing electronically. I cycled the ignition a few more times just to be sure.
She stood there watching the van start like she expected it to argue. It did not.
The whole job took about twenty minutes in the driveway. She paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted to replace parts that were never broken.
