Sunday morning in Ventura, out near La Conchita on the coast. A studio owner came out after teaching her first class of the day and her QX60 just sat there. Still not right. The fob was pairing intermittently, enough to start the car once but not reliably. That told me the key needed to be re-enrolled through the OBD port, not just freshened up.
I connected the diagnostic tool, pulled the current key count from the body control module, and enrolled her fob properly. Then I walked the car the way I always do: touch unlock on both front handles, lock button on the handle, all five buttons, start from the driver seat, start from the passenger seat to check range, and the emergency blade in the door cylinder.
Everything confirmed clean. She made it back for her second class. The dealer would have been a Monday appointment, a parts wait, and a bill she did not need.
