2018 Infiniti QX60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman in Midtown Ventura called me on a Thursday afternoon. She had dropped her QX60 fob the night before and it had been acting strange since. That morning, the driver-side door handle stopped responding to touch. She was getting in through the passenger side and leaning across to unlock. Not ideal with two kids in tow.
She figured it was the door handle sensor. A shop had already told her the same thing over the phone without seeing the car.
I got there and the first thing I did was pull the fob apart and check the CR2032. The cell read low voltage. Not dead, just weak enough to make the touch-unlock unreliable while still letting the buttons limp along. That is a common pattern on this generation. The touch-sensor antenna in the door handle demands more signal consistency than a button press does.
Fresh CR2032, contacts cleaned, fob closed back up. I walked every door handle, tested touch unlock on both sides, ran all five buttons, and verified the push-button start. Everything came back.
She mentioned the shop had quoted her a door handle replacement. The fob battery cost less than a cup of coffee. I charged for the service call and the diagnostic time, and she saved a significant chunk over what that shop was heading toward. The car never left her driveway.
