Out on the Patterson Road corridor in Oxnard, a retired guy had a 2020 QX60 sitting in his driveway with zero working keys. He had one fob that went through the wash. The other one his wife lost somewhere between the house and a doctor's visit. Gone.
He called Infiniti first. They told him to tow it in, order a VIN-matched key, and wait. Nearest Infiniti dealer is not close to Oxnard, so that meant a flatbed ride on top of the key cost and the wait time. He said the whole thing sounded like a week-long project. He found me instead.
I pulled the PIN through the OBD-II port off the BCM, which on these is a Hitag AES/4A security access procedure. No PIN card needed from the owner, no VIN lookup through a dealer portal. Programmed the new KR5TXN7 fob, cut the emergency insert blade with an NSN14 profile on site, and tested everything: push-button start, door handle proximity on all four doors, liftgate button, remote start from 30 feet away.
He watched the whole thing from a lawn chair. When the engine turned over on the new fob, he just nodded like that was the outcome he expected the whole time.
All-keys-lost, done at his property, took about an hour. He kept the dead washed fob as a backup shell. Not a bad idea, honestly.
