I got a call from Upper Ojai on a Tuesday morning. Guy had just landed from an overseas work trip, made it all the way to the parking structure, and his 2006 Sportage was just sitting there ignoring him. Three presses, nothing. He tried locking, unlocking, nothing.

The immobilizer had not moved. The key was still paired. There was no fault to clear, no programming to run. Just a dead battery and neglected contacts.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a full key replacement appointment. I told him that would have been a waste of two days and a tow for something that took me less than ten minutes on site. He just laughed and said he was glad he searched first.
