I was already in Montecito that morning for another call when my phone picked up a new one from the Eucalyptus Hill area. A Sportage owner couldn't get her car to recognize the fob at all. Push-button start wouldn't respond, the door handles weren't waking up on touch, and the dash was showing a key-not-detected warning every time she tried. The whole sequence on the 2022 Sportage has a timed security portion built into the process, so you sit and wait for it to clear before the system accepts the new fob. I walked every button, both door handles, and the start button before I packed up.
