A framing contractor called me just after six in the morning from a lumberyard off the main strip in Downtown Ventura. His crew was already at the job site waiting on materials. He'd gone to grab his fob off the passenger seat, knocked it off the dash getting out, and when he picked it up the back had popped open and the battery was somewhere under the seat. The clip itself had a slight outward bend, probably from the fall. I straightened it, reseated the battery correctly, and tested. Door handles came alive immediately.
The rest of the visit was just doing it right: walking every door, checking the touch-unlock on both front handles, running through the buttons, confirming the start. He was loaded and heading to the site before seven.
Nothing got programmed. Nothing got replaced. He didn't need a new key, he needed someone who showed up fast and didn't start selling him a new fob before looking at what he actually had.
