Got a call from over in the Blanchard Community area of Santa Paula on a Monday. A travel nurse on a 13-week hospital contract was standing in her apartment garage next to a 2018 Sportage that only had one key, and that key had just snapped at the flip blade hinge.
She had already called the Kia dealer. Friday was the earliest they could get her in. Programmed a new TQ8-RKE-4F27 four-button flip key, cut the KK10 blade to code, tested transponder start, tested all four remote buttons from multiple angles in the garage.
She sat on the bumper and watched the whole thing. When the engine turned over on the new key she just nodded slowly, like she was mentally canceling five days of ride service to the hospital.
Monday call, Monday fix, for a fraction of what the dealer route would have cost, and she drove herself to work Tuesday morning.
