A guy in La Colonia texted me on a Tuesday afternoon. He'd been out on the trails near Oxnard on his mountain bike, came back to his 2005 Legacy in a gravel pullout, and the key was gone. Somewhere on the trail. Not coming back.

He mentioned later that a friend had told him to just call the dealer. The dealer would have needed a flatbed to move the car, then a VIN-based parts order, then a separate appointment. We were done in that gravel lot before the flatbed would have even arrived.
