A mountain biker dropped a pin somewhere off one of those gravel pullouts above town and sent me a text. No context, just a pin and "lost my Subaru key on the trail, car's stuck." I loaded up for a 2012 Legacy and drove out.
He was sitting on the hood when I pulled up. No shade, no cell signal to speak of, and a car that wasn't going to move without a key. He'd already checked his pack twice.

I didn't mention the dealer until he asked. When he did, I told him they would have needed to tow the car, schedule an appointment, and possibly order the fob if it wasn't in stock. He was back on the road from that dirt pullout. The dealer comparison was almost beside the point.
