Got a call from a guy stuck in a parking garage off Ventura Road in Oxnard. He had just landed after a backpacking trip overseas, walked to level 4, and his 2007 Legacy was sitting there ignoring him. The CR1620 in the remote head was dead flat, so lock, unlock, trunk, nothing worked. And here's the part that made it worse: his emergency blade was zipped inside a bag in the trunk. No way in.

Swapped in a fresh CR1620 and tested all three buttons from 30 feet: lock, unlock, trunk release.

He sat in the driver's seat for a second and just exhaled. That post-travel, post-panic, finally-going-home kind of exhale.
