2009 Subaru Legacy Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a disabled veteran parked in the lot near the VA clinic off Oxnard Boulevard. He used a wheelchair, his wife was out of town, and the remote on his only key had gone dead. Not the whole key, just the remote portion. The car still started. But he couldn't lock or unlock from outside without getting out of his chair, and he wasn't doing that alone in a parking lot.

I pulled up to his spot in Marina West and got to work right there on the hood of his Legacy. The 2009 remote head key is a one-piece unit, transponder and remote together. I decoded the lock, cut a fresh blade, and programmed it through the OBD port. Then I paired the remote function on both the new key and his original so he had a working spare going home.

He didn't have to call his wife back early. Didn't have to arrange a ride. Didn't have to wait until Monday for a dealer appointment. The dealer had quoted him a number that assumed he could just drive in. He couldn't.

That's the part nobody accounts for. Getting there.

What if I need a Subaru key after hours or on the weekend?▼

Call us. Subaru dealer service departments generally run Monday through Friday with limited or no weekend availability. If you lose your only key on a Friday evening near the Marina West waterfront, the dealer won't see you until Monday at the earliest, and that assumes the fob is in stock and they have an open slot.
