2009 Subaru Legacy Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a veteran near Five Points Shopping Center in Oxnard. He was at a medical appointment and his only key had a remote that stopped responding. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, nothing. He used a wheelchair, so the standard dealer advice of "bring it in and we'll take a look" was not just annoying, it was a real barrier. His wife usually handled the driving but she was out of town that week.
I got to his car that morning. The 2009 Legacy uses the older 4D-62 transponder system with a separate remote head key, FCC ID CWTWBU766. I decoded his door lock with my Lishi DAT17, cut a fresh NSN14 blade on the mobile unit, and programmed the transponder chip through OBD. The immobilizer on these fourth-gen Legacys talks through the Subaru Select Monitor protocol, so registration is pretty quick once you're connected.
His remote was the 4-button setup, part number 57497-AG41B on the older shell. Paired that to the car's RF receiver at the same time. Tested all four buttons, cycled the immobilizer twice, confirmed clean starts.
He sat in his chair the whole time and watched. Didn't have to leave the parking lot, didn't have to wait for a ride, didn't have to deal with a dealer parts counter. The whole thing took about 35 minutes. He got two working keys for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him for one.

Reviews from customers we rescued
“My ignition would not turn in La Jolla and I thought I needed a tow. EZ Car Keyz repaired the ignition on the spot and also made a spare key for safety. The technician worked carefully and confidently.”
“Niv showed up, did his thing, and just like that I had two new keys for a fraction of what the dealership quoted. I have zero reservations recommending him to anyone who needs car keys replaced.”
“We had one broken key for our Honda Civic and one working key for our Lexus. Tim came out and cut three remote car keys at a great price. All keys worked perfectly. Professional, courteous, and highly recommended.”
