2009 Toyota Camry Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman at the laundromat near Ormond Beach in Oxnard had a 2009 Camry that was slowly turning on her. It started fine in the mornings but by evening the push-to-start just sat there. No crank, no click, just "Key not detected" on the dash. She thought it was electrical.

I pulled my VVDI2 and read the chip in her existing fob. It was a 4D-67. Her Camry needs a G-chip. Toyota's immobilizer will sometimes accept a 4D during initial registration, but it runs a deeper cryptographic handshake over multiple drive cycles. Eventually the system figures out the chip is wrong and silently rejects it. No check engine light, no stored code you can pull with a basic scanner. It just stops trusting the key.
I programmed a new HYQ14AAB with the correct G-chip, cut the emergency insert blade from her door lock, and swapped in a fresh CR1632 because the one in there was already reading low. Tested push-to-start, door handle touch-to-unlock on both front doors, all four buttons, trunk release.
She stood there watching the dash the whole time, waiting for it to fail again. It did not.
The difference between a key that works and one that works for a week is the chip generation. I match it every time because redoing someone else's shortcut is a worse job for everyone.
