Out in Hollywood by the Sea, a guy had his only fob go dark overnight. His 2013 Camry was sitting in the driveway, push-button start, and the car wasn't acknowledging the fob at all. I pulled up to the driveway, connected to the OBD port, and ran the all-keys-lost procedure for Toyota's smart key system. The process involves reading the immobilizer data, calculating the seed, and registering the new fob from scratch. There's a timed countdown built into the sequence, so you can't rush it. He watched from the doorway while I worked. About 35 minutes total.
When it was done, he walked up, touched the door handle, it unlocked. He pressed start, the engine came on. He stood there for a second like he expected it to quit.
He saved a good chunk compared to the dealer route, and he didn't need a tow, an appointment, or two days without his car.
One thing I always say: there are a small number of newer Toyota platforms where the security is tied to Toyota's own network and my tools don't support all-keys-lost on them yet. Those do go to the dealer. But the 2013 Camry isn't one of them. I do this job on-site, in driveways, at 2am if that's what it takes.
