2023 Toyota Camry Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was at a sushi place in the Mountain Meadows area of Moorpark when someone grabbed her bag off the chair next to her. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it gone. She borrowed the server's phone to call the police, then her husband, then me.
Her 2023 Toyota Camry was sitting in the lot with zero working keys. Her husband had already called the dealer. They said three to five business days, the car would need to be towed in, and they strongly suggested rekeying the door locks on top of everything else. The number they quoted made him pause. He called me instead.
By the time I pulled into that lot, she had finished giving her statement. All-keys-lost on a current-generation Camry is a different animal than just adding a spare. When a car already has a paired key present, adding another is relatively quick. All-keys-lost means the vehicle has no trusted key at all, so I have to go in through the diagnostic port, wipe the existing key data entirely, and register new fobs from scratch. That process matters for one specific reason I always explain to owners in this situation: the moment I wipe that memory, the stolen fob is dead. It can still physically enter the door lock, but the vehicle security system will not allow the engine to start. That is the part that gives people relief.
I registered two new fobs, cut the emergency blades for both, and walked through every button on both fobs before I packed up. Lock, unlock, the panic button, all of it tested while she watched.
She drove home that night. The dealer's quote plus a tow and a week-long wait never happened. The stolen key is worthless to whoever has it now.
