2002 BMW 3 Series Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a woman in Village at Moorpark, parked in a medical office lot off Los Angeles Avenue. She had just come out of an oncology appointment and her 2002 BMW 3 Series would not turn over. The diamond key would go into the ignition, turn, and nothing. Dash lit up but the starter would not engage. EWS lockout.

She had medication to pick up before the pharmacy closed at 6. The BMW dealer's service line told her next available was the following morning. She found me and I headed out.

On site, I connected my ACDP module programmer to read the EWS3 unit, which on the E46 sits behind the glovebox. The rolling code sync between her original key's PCF7935 chip and the EWS3 had dropped out. The key's internal rechargeable cell was long dead, so the remote side was gone too, but that was secondary. The immobilizer was the real problem.

I pulled the ISN from the EWS3 via the ACDP, matched it to a new PCF7935 transponder, cut the HU92 blade on site, and wrote the key data. Engine fired on the first turn. Then I walked the remote functions: lock, unlock, trunk release. All three buttons on the new 6955750 shell responded clean.

From her call to engine running, about 50 minutes. She made the pharmacy. That was the part that mattered.
