Got a call from a guy at his office along the Main Street corridor in Ventura. Dentist. Said he'd already looked up my BSIS license, LCO 6792, on the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services site before he even dialed. He wanted a spare transponder key for his 2001 Dodge Durango and he wasn't handing his truck to someone he hadn't vetted first.

His Durango was the SLT trim, second-generation body style. Sentry Key system with the SKIM module mounted on the steering column. I connected my programmer through the OBD-II port, pulled the 4-digit SKIM PIN, and verified the existing key's PCF7935 transponder was reading clean before I touched anything else. NASTF credentials gave me the factory data path for the Chrysler side, so the PIN pull was direct and correct.
Cut the Y160-PT blank on the HPC machine right there in his parking lot. Programmed the new transponder to the SKIM, then tested both keys through a full start cycle, not just an "on" position check. Engine running, shut it off, swap keys, engine running again.
He stood there watching the whole time, arms crossed, like a guy who audits everything. When both keys started the truck clean, he nodded once. That was it.
He didn't need a dealer appointment or a two-week wait. Just a verified locksmith and fifteen minutes in his own parking lot.
