In Ventura, over in the Poinsettia neighborhood, a guy's jacket walked off the back of his barstool after his shift. Keys, wallet, badge, everything. He is an off-duty firefighter. He borrowed the bartender's phone, called the police first, then his wife, then me.
His 2007 Dodge Durango was sitting in the lot with zero keys. His wife called the dealer and got the rundown: order a new Fobik, wait three to five business days, tow the truck in, and they recommended rekeying because the stolen key could still physically open the doors. The total they quoted was enough to ruin his week twice.
All-keys-lost after a theft is a different job than cutting a spare. I got there that night. Used my IM608 to pull up the WIN module, wiped the entire key memory so the stolen Fobik is dead to the truck even if the thief walks up and tries it. Programmed two new OHT692427AA units from scratch, decoded the lock cylinder, and cut both blades on site. Five-button Fobik, lock, unlock, hatch, remote start, panic.
He tested both keys, started it twice, locked and unlocked from the curb. Drove home before last call.
The stolen Fobik cannot start that truck. It cannot even get the SKIM to acknowledge it exists. That is the point of a full erase and reprogram, and it is something I can do in a parking lot at 10 PM for a fraction of what the dealer wanted plus zero tow and zero wait.
